Own Your Month: a money game where one turn is one month
Your pay arrives, the bills come in and offers try to tempt you. You decide what happens to your money, one month at a time. You win when your passive income covers your monthly expenses.
Free in your browser, no sign-up. The demo is in English for now, with prices in Czech crowns.
One turn, one month
- Pay and bills. Your pay lands in your cash, and rent, food and your phone go out.
- Cards. Each month brings one life event you did not choose, plus offers and opportunities you can take or turn down: a savings account, an ETF plan, a side job, a phone on instalments.
- Traps with small print. "0 Kč today", pay later, a free trial that turns into a subscription. Show details shows what an offer really costs before you say yes.
- End the month. The month plays out: bills are paid, your investments pay out and the economy moves.
The goal: money that pays for your life
Passive income is money your assets earn without you working: interest, dividends or rent. The Freedom meter shows how much of your monthly expenses it covers. Keep it at 100 % or more for three months in a row and you are Free.
Nobody is knocked out. If your cash runs out, the game puts you on a repayment plan, you keep playing and you see what led there.
Watch your district grow
Every player has a district on the Estate, a small housing estate seen from above. Your decisions put buildings on it: a savings yard, an ETF park, a market stall for side jobs, a rental block. Ten street lamps along your street light up as your Freedom meter rises. The map only shows what you have built; you make every decision with your cards and your statement.
Play against the computer
Pick up to five computer players, each with its own money style: careful, spender, investor, saver or speculator. Or play alone. During the game you see each player's level and Freedom meter. Net worth stays hidden until the end, when every district opens its doors.
What the demo has today
- First Money: 24 months, for teenagers. School, pocket money and a small job, no big loans.
- Starter Life: 60 months, for young adults. A first full-time job, with credit, investing, property and business.
- Four difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, Hard and Real prices.
- Stats with charts of your money month by month.
The demo is a work in progress. Its texts and numbers are not final, some prices are still being checked, and it does not save yet: closing the tab ends the game.
For lessons
A game of First Money is designed to fit into one lesson, needs no accounts and nothing to install, and gives a class something to talk about: why did my cash run out, and was that offer worth it?
The game keeps your data on your device
No account, no ads, no analytics and no cookies, in the game or on this website. The demo does not save, so nothing about your game is stored or sent.
An educational game
Own Your Month teaches how money works. It is not financial advice and does not promise you any income. Prices, wages and rates are simplified snapshots of the Czech economy.
